The New Luanda International Airport Project — EHOPE Translates the Full Construction Design Package

The new Luanda International Airport project in Angola

The new Luanda International Airport in Angola is a national strategic priority project; once completed, it will be an international hub airport for southwestern Africa. In 2017, Chinese central SOE AVIC International Engineering won the bid and signed an EPC contract with the owner, Angola's Ministry of Transport, covering the project's entire design, procurement and construction. Financed through Chinese government loans, the project drew the attention of both heads of state.

Phase one is designed for an annual capacity of 15 million passengers, 100,000 aircraft movements and 50,000 tonnes of cargo and mail, with 4F and 4E flight areas plus supporting facilities — air traffic control building, radar station, substations, water supply, sewage treatment, fuel supply and cargo warehouses. Total floor area reaches 500,000 m² (185,000 m² for the terminal), with 1.2 million m² of roads and landscaping.

After taking over the project, AVIC worked with top Chinese civil aviation design institutes and Angola's Ministry of Transport to comprehensively review and refine the design of the flight areas, terminal area and all ancillary works — completed in early 2019. EHOPE International Translation won the bid to translate all construction design documentation for the project, including design specifications and construction drawings, as well as the batch translation of construction plans, reports and other engineering materials throughout the build.

EHOPE's precise, professional translation in the engineering and construction domain won unanimous praise from both contractor and owner, and led to deeper, broader cooperation with major Chinese architectural design institutes.
