From Watching to Productizing: LSPs Roll Out AI-Enhanced Services

After half a year of intensive testing, leading language service providers began packaging large language model capability into standardized products from mid-2023. On the industry's shelf, a new service form is taking shape: tiered AI-enhanced translation services.
A typical product structure has three layers. Self-serve tier: clients call AI translation directly through a platform — for internal-reference content, instant delivery, at a fraction of traditional pricing. Review tier: AI first draft plus professional linguist review — for business content published externally, with turnaround less than half of all-human workflows. Expert tier: senior translators work fully by hand with AI only as an aid — for high-value legal, medical and brand content.
The key to productization is not technology but transparency: each tier clearly discloses to the client the human-machine division of labor and the quality commitment, letting clients choose their own risk level by content purpose. This transparency answers precisely the biggest enterprise anxiety of the AI era — "how do I know this wasn't just machine-translated?"
From "selling words" to "selling tiered services", the LSP business model is quietly completing a transformation. For clients, that's good news: the same budget now covers much more content.
